A lovely day to visit the Cliffs of Mohr, albeit the sun setting to the west makes for challenging smartphone snaps #Ireland@Em0nM4stodon … I had done zero research. Just drove here, mostly expecting a beach car park and some craggy cliffs. Of course, there’s a full visitor centre and all kinds of (excellent) facilities. The views are superb and the weather has been unexpectedly perfect on this trip.

1/x One of the things I liked about Web 2.0 was that you could build a following as a techno-optimist blogger.@ricmac @phillycodehound 💪 yes exactly! I've been thinking more about this since @cwebber talk about joy at #fediforum / @pluralistic mention of hope vs optimism in a recent online chat / some discussions about fun vs being in the Rebel Alliance. Hope (and a sense of purpose) are important.

Yes, it’s very hard to be a technology optimist and have a positive following right now. The energy is very “anti” things, antagonistic, negative. To be fair, I am a Pi fan / person, but I absolutely just grabbed a Minisforum mini PC as my primary homelab proxmox box, and I know many folks reuse older x86 machines for these purposes too.
