@jupiter @scottjenson Yeah, it was a whole thing when Threads came about, since a ton of people are here specifically because fuck Facebook/Meta. Tons of Mastodon instances defederated Threads preemptively. But, that doesn't make Threads any less Mastodon.

I went on Facebook (I know I know I know) and they are selling tinfoil hats.@futurebird I found their Amazon page and gave them a glowing (like nuclear waste) review, and reported their product page. Will Amazon do anything? Probably not. But hopefully it makes them do some damage control, at the very least.

I went on Facebook (I know I know I know) and they are selling tinfoil hats.@futurebird As someone substantially disabled by brain fog, that ad makes me want to perform some Luddite-like activities.

Them: if you set aside all the ethical concerns…@gloriouscow @petrillic My friend, that's not an argument against what they said.

Yup.@lapt0r @tedmielczarek @mekkaokereke "The officers were asked... if they had ever gotten out of control and behaved violently against their spouse and children in the last six months... Approximately, 40 percent said that in the last six months prior to the survey they had behaved violently towards their spouse or children." -- Leanor Boulin Johnson of Arizona State University during a Congressional hearing

Hi #fediverse.@Pepijn Exactly one horse, exactly one time.

The temp setting in a kitchen refrigerator is a knob with numbers 1 -10@futurebird Because the fridge can break the law without suffering the consequences.

AI resorts to nuclear weapons in 95% of simulations – study@pravda Yeah, they're trained on all our apocalypse literature.

No Tools for You: A Century of Men Policing Women’s Tools@tom_verbeure Oh boy, I thought Adafruit was the parent corporation to the Raspberry Pi company. I don't know how that got in my head. 😅
-
No Tools for You: A Century of Men Policing Women’s Tools@mcc @adafruit@fosstodon.org Yeah, I dropped Adafruit when they hired that cop and wrote a puff piece about how cool it was that he used RaspberryPis to illegally surveil Muslims. Then their social media manager had an absolute meltdown when someone politely pointed out how messed up that was.

Today in InfoSec Job Security News:@draeath @nihkeys @DJGummikuh @GossiTheDog If it was an accident, or incompetence, then it would be rapidly corrected.
If it's not rapidly corrected, then it is the purpose.

Q: I want to wash my car.@knowmadd Deepseek was so close. 😆

SVG triangulation.@jwz In an argument the other day, someone pulled out, "Well Grok says..." and if I wanted to know what a CSAM generator said... yeah, I can't even think of a joke answer for that.
Wait, shouldn't everyone making and using the CSAM generator just be in jail, and the CSAM generator shut down, and I never have to hear about the damn thing ever again?

1. nepobaby formerly known as Prince Andrew2.@OGjester @blogdiva I thought this might be one of those "Epstein liked to throw dinner parties and badger famous scientists with inane questions" deals. There are certainly degrees of "in the Epstein files" (none of the degrees, to be clear, are good).
But, no, he's deep in child rape allegations with Bill Clinton. And when I say "with Bill Clinton" I don't mean "similar to Bill Clinton", I mean WITH Bill Clinton.

1. nepobaby formerly known as Prince Andrew2.@blogdiva Quick note: #1 on your list was "nepobaby formerly known as Prince Andrew". #41 is a duplicate?

What the actual fuck.@sundogplanets I am not an astronaut, but it was my understanding one of the biggest problems in space was radiating waste heat.
I am a computer engineer, and I definitely know one of the biggest problems of data centers is that they generate a lot of waste heat.
Sending ONE satellite into space to be a data center would be the stupidest idea I'd heard all week.
