I think I got my first #genAI / #LLM exam project submission. I do not remember if I made a clear policy statement about this during my lessons, and the students are foreigners (their native language is neither Italian nor English), so I can understand that they might have felt that having an LLM assist in their report writing could help make a better impression compared to a potentially broken English. The main issue is of course that if I cannot trust that they wrote the report, I cannot trust that they wrote the code either. Not happy of having had to explain that.On the upside, the project was insufficient anyway, so they have the possibility to redeem themselves working on further optimizations.(Yes, I have a policy that students can send me a draft of the project before the final submission to get a general idea on whether the work they have done is up to par or not. I can afford that because of the relatively small number of students I have, and it allows me to make sure they have the opportunity to better digest aspects that may have escaped their attention, which I believe is more important, in terms of learning, than finding oneself marked with a poor evaluation for some potentially silly reasons.)
