To #Debian community: "Responsible Use Of Generative AI" is an oxymoron. GenAI is irresponsible and pernicious. Your voting means whitewashing Big Tech ecocide, destruction of Free Software & Culture and their agenda against the marginalized communities.PS: A huge thank you for those Debian members that proposed and voted NoAI options. Now, there are alternatives:https://codeberg.org/brib/slopfree-software-indexhttps://noai.starlightnet.work/list.htmlhttps://codeberg.org/ethical-foss/open-slopware#NoAI #LLM #slop #GenAI

@WeirdWriter I hadn't checked those fonts out yet. Those are very bad. Even purely for aesthetic reasons those shouldn't be used. It's like the developers saw the movie 'They Live,' where the glasses reveal messages in print and decided to side with the hostile alien invaders. Thanks for the share.

@failedLyndonLaRouchite @maxpool …- That said, the reasoning in the AG Munich court case is quite convincing to me. But it also applies only to generating logos via simple prompts such as “Design an original, abstract logo“, not to human-AI co-design in general.Complete ruling incl. the logos and examples of prompts here: https://www.gesetze-bayern.de/Content/Document/Y-300-Z-BECKRS-B-2026-N-1513?hl=trueP.S.: There are quite a few other pending or recently decided court cases in Germany, e.g. GEMA (rights holder) vs. Suno: https://www.gema.de/en/w/gema-prevails-over-suno

I have been a #blogger since early stages of me life during elementary school. Later, I found writing of a way to express meself, share me thoughts, and also take notes possibly useful for others or me future self.I also started to read personal blogs of other people also known as #smallweb websites. Recently, a colleague of mine showed his blog and a post in it, and asked me to read it. From the first paragraph, it was clear it is #LLM generated. I asked him about it. He said the content is from himself but he asked an LLM to turn that content into the actual writing. I really disliked it. And he didn't understand why I disliked it so much either. From his point of view, he was trying to teach something. The learning material was from himself and he asked LLM to only generate a good text from it.The thing is, when I write, that's a way of expressing meself, me thoughts, me opinions and so on. It has positive psychological value for me. For writing, I have a style and I keep it. Similar to an artist who has a style. When I read personal blogs of other people, I want to connect with their minds and try to see things from their eyes. I want to somehow know how someone else is experiencing and understanding this world. When someone uses an LLM, it creates a barrier between his mind and me.If you still don't understand, imagine when you want to talk to your friend, you let an LLM talk on your behalf. What is the point of human relations? Blogging is just a new way of human relations.#AI #Blog #blogging #writing

LLM fatigue is real My day job basically requires me to use LLMs (or, it is strongly encouraged) on the software that I develop. Now I understand why LLM fatigue and LLM burn-out happens. It is because you constantly have to babysit the LLM to keep it from screwing things up. Babysitting is exhausting work. At one time in my life, as a 20-something-year-old, I was responsible for a group of 30 kids age 5 to 12. Every day I went home so drained that I could barely stay awake long enough to have dinner. I know from experience that school teachers perform some of the most labor-intensive work in the modern world. It is what they call "emotional labor." When other people are unable (as with kids) or unwilling (as with a lazy roommate) to live or play or work with you as a cooperative peer or team member, you essentially have to spend mental energy keeping an eye on them and making sure they aren't doing something that is disruptive. That mental energy is a real energy cost, it really does consume calories and make you feel tired. The worst part about it is that the LLM never really "learns." Kids can learn to work and play with you. Lazy roommates can learn to live with you. But an LLM never really learns, and it keeps making the same mistakes over and over again. People who work with LLMs often end up keeping a directory of scripts they can deploy with a quick copy-paste so they can quickly re-explain something to an LLM. So the fatigue of watching over it and making sure the LLM doesn't do something wrong is a constant emotional pressure, and it never gets better with age. #tech #AI #LLMs #LLM #VibeCoding #AIFatigue #BurnOut

Does anyone else think that whomever came up with the MCP acronym _actually_ was thinking of the Master Control Program from the _original_ TRON movie? The _literal_ badguy in the film.I do. I think it's exactly what they were thinking of and came up with Model Context Protocol later in order to disguise their original "clever" reference.You... You've met nerds, right? We think we're _very_ clever.

@SonstHarmlos @leeloo Sorry, you have to ask Codeberg ppl directly for that. I was not actually involved in the debate, I only learned about the result today. I am not an active or passive member of Codeberg e.V.

@WeirdWriter "I worked so hard to push a button which prodded a thief and a liar to regurgitate something it cobbled together in a few seconds that maybe solves the problem!"I get that LLMs can be good at code but come on, it's not like the LLM user did anything themselves, the entitlement they exhibit is unreal. Also I'm proud of at least this part of the FOSS community for recognizing that AI in its current form is fundamentally antithetical to the vision and philosophy of FOSS.

@Pepijn this reminds me of stories I heard from women when I was app-dating in the Pacific Northwest where guys would post photos of themselves holding fish they caught. (the women all wondered aloud to me why men did this, when no women they knew found it appealing)the worst offenders were those who Photoshopped themselves with bigger fish. who's that even for?

@jae Yup, true, it is technically possible to make small highly restricted models from scratch for niche purposes and/or as educational examples. The problem is LLM users by definition want large models, and this makes them dependent on unethical corporate models.
