Hello, elder queers. I need some help, please.
I’m writing a scene set on Xmas Eve 1990. I’m looking for a cultural event (film, TV, music, current affairs, whatever) that could trigger an argument between a deeply closeted young man and his homophobic father.
Can be something current or even a few years old, but can’t be later than that.
I told a (fake) famous author I was so glad she contacted me because I really hated her latest book. And could she please recommend a book marketer who’s responsible for selling millions of copies of something so awful?
Weirdly, she didn’t respond.
I went back and forth with (not the real) Caro De Robertis until they started talking about themself in the third person.
As an author, I receive an endless slew of emails and DMs from scammy ‘book marketers’. My favourites are the ones that come from big name authors.
Every now and then, I like to have a little fun with them.
