Hannah Spencer is the #GreenParty candidate for the #GortonAndDenton by-election. The far right is obsessed with her. They’re utterly convinced she’s married to a multimillionaire.

After someone told me her partner was not only a millionaire but actually the head of AstraZeneca, I did some digging.

It’s because of it’s because of her register of interests from 2023.

They’ve ignored the Associate bit. And they think ‘Principal Scientist’ means (I kid you not) that they RUN the freakin’ company.

If these things were so important it should be easy to find comparable information about the Reform UK candidate Matthew Goodwin.

His job titles, income from different sources, marital status and (if applicable) the employment plus salary details of his partner, his current address and assessment of how wealthy or affluent an area it’s in.

@clacksee I inevitably know the person in question here, and he’s a truly lovely person. Quiet, nerdy, and yes, just a scientist with a normal science job, like all the hundreds of other people in south Manchester who work at AZ. It’s a big employer.

@samsterby @clacksee Job titles in some places go like "graduate trainee", then "junior", then "senior", then "principal", then "consultant"/"fellow", then you're stuck unless you want to go into management. Seems to be like "associate principal" is the step below "principal". For a random professional techie I might guess £60k-£85k.

So yes, as you approach retirement, your house and your pension fund might indeed add up - just!! - to a professional couple being "multimillionaire" between them, but it sounds like "the far right" are just being as ignorant as ever.
