I have a few phrases:RE: https://infosec.exchange/@rainhard/116318344437253051
I have a few phrases:
- "Datacenters are an anti-pattern"
- "If data is the new oil, datacenters are the new oil pipelines / refineries"And I mean this on many aspects, but especially about the concentration of socio-economic power. But holy moly the environmental aspect seems in alignment with that also
-
Wow:@rainhard Holy moly! I absolutely believe it (esp having worked in some of the first mega-datacenters early in my career). But wow

Microsoft fundamentally doesn't understand or value trust.@rpm sure they do have you ever heard of "trusted computing environments"

ChatGPT Won't Let You Type Until Cloudflare Reads Your React State.@impermanen_ It's all good, thx for the reply!
And fwiw, I am against genai in its current incarnation... I think the term "AI" is broad enough, and there's enough space in the field, where saying I am "against AI" doesn't capture things. But it's hard to articulate that fully in a side comment within another post.
I understand and am *more* sympathetic to the "don't use it at all" side if we're going to dilute the conversation to boolean positions. I'd rather not do that, but I'm personally glad for a lot of pushback against the hype around here!

BTW, unsolicited endorsement, but I am so pleased to be working with Regento. They had no idea I was going to post this and it wasn't requested by them. I am just posting this because I actually feel this way

BTW, unsolicited endorsement, but I am so pleased to be working with Regento.BTW, unsolicited endorsement, but I am so pleased to be working with Regento. If you need organizational support with a FOSS org that understands working with other FOSS orgs, Regento has saved me a lot of sanity http://regen.to/
Also @nekohayo and Halle are just great and lovely people

There's a comment by one of OpenAI's employees over on Hacker News https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47567575
Of course, the irony of "this is being done to be able to keep our endpoints from being abused" isn't being lost over there either https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47568172
I continue to say: I am not against AI, but I *am* against the AI industry, and a large portion of it is the intentional power grab dynamics and hypocrisy.
Hard to think of a better example of hypocrisy that apparently one of the mitigations is that they require clients to execute proof of work! Anubis, anyone?
