So much of the discourse on social media is spam, as you describe.

From the "not everything is bad" department: We are down to 1965 levels of carbon dioxide emissions in the EU, after the high in 1979. -
@davew & @pfefferle started listening to the podcast, and a question: what examples of "non-web" (non-linkable) platforms or services are you thinking about?Have you seen https://textcasting.org?
That’s what I mean by the web for text at least.

if you type that text into any of the systems you mention you won't see a link.

I don’t think open source projects should fork over political issues unless they apply directly to the project.I don’t think open source projects should fork over political issues unless they apply directly to the project.
If it’s about someone’s beliefs, you can fork it but you’re going to end up with a lot of forks because there are all kinds of things people object to.
Each fork makes something new you have to interop with and you’re working against the interest of the project.

I'm looking for people who primarily blog about WordPress.BTW, there's this --
A feed-read of a lot of wordpress-related feeds.
So they already have something running which is what I am looking to create.
But this is how bloggers find out things. The existence of this resource hadn't shown up on my radar yet.
If they publish their feed list in OPML we could hook it up, but maybe there's no need.
I may have a few feeds they don't have.
I'll probably put up what I have.

I'm sure other people have noted this but at some point we went from talking about "social network sites" to talking about "social media sites"related -- "social web" is totally overused.
there is a social web, we just haven't developed very much of it, i think because we were intimidated by the silos. i'm not intimidated any more, i'm fed up and going ahead without them.
