@lunalapin Right? It’s really late for me, and I can’t remember if it was you or someone someone else that said, but they said that everybody will have a really hard time when the thing goes away. Discord will eventually go away. So will FB. I’m trying to prepare others for when that happens, but they just refuse so strongly that I don’t get it

Happy user of it for years.I selfhost it but it’s great to see there’s a number of folks hosting their own instance already and providing free access to use it.If you’re wanting to read on more than one device, kinda want/need something centrally hosted in order to make sure there’s syncing of read posts. Something only a single device wouldn’t be able to tell your other devices if you viewed an article or not already. (Unless other clever tricks are done?)

Fediverse people – if you’re intrigued by RSS (what’s RSS? Look it up, it’s good) and you’re thinking about which RSS reader to get, can I suggest an RSS reader that is also your Fediverse account – yes, absolutely! Go over to catodon.rocks and start up a fediverse account there on Catodon (having a spare fediverse account is a good thing, why not) and see that it has a built-in RSS reading thingy – you can get up and running with RSS feeds from all over the world, maybe all over the universe, there and then in your fediverse place! No need for another app. #catodon #RSS

@amoroso It's such a convenient way to do things. I don't have an e-mail list but I still publish via RSS as it's so low maintenance.It's a real shame that things like Safari has dropped support for it. As good as a dedicated reader is, I always saw that as an "easy in" for folks just getting into it.

hi #fediverse people, humble #request :can we agree on not having bots using the #rss tag? hashtags should be used to talk about the thing or linking topics not just to say ''this is from an rss feed'', otherwise it could become quickly useless to follow hashtags at all; probably it happens also in other hashtags but on the rss one is clear

@FunkyBob First and foremost, an RSS feed must have the content not just a link to some crappy web page. I know this should be obvious, but I've come across this SO much it pisses me off.

I ask...does anyone here know a tool similar to OpenRSS that really works? not itself because the site is mostly down, has long delays in post aggregation and sometimes breaks completely. These issues increased considerably in recent times.#rss
