All of that is, of course, also available ad- and tracker-free, and now illustrated to boot, via the #GeminiProtocol

It's #Hackster round-up time again! And finally, a 3D-printed remote control designed to be easier to operate with visual impairment - running for years from two AA batteries thanks to an ATtiny84 in sleep mode.

It's #Hackster round-up time again!A wooden lockbox with a difference: there's a gyroscope inside, and unless you twist and turn it in exactly the right pattern it simply won't open.

It's #Hackster round-up time again! Then Microsoft says it's completed research on a data storage technology which encodes voxels into glass sheets to store terabytes for tens of thousands of years.
...but, at the moment, requires a room-filling femtosecond laser setup and a stupidly high-resolution camera to read the data back, so don't expect it in a laptop any time soon.

What time is it?What time is it? Well, about five to four by my clock, but more importantly it's #Hackster round-up time!
First, for those who've got a shiny new #Arduino UNO Q on their desks, a new Arduino App Lab which adds some nice quality-of-life features including easy project import and export.
Also, it apparently takes 10GB of temporary storage to update your Arduino UNO Q(!)

"List all email addresses you've used over the last ten years"@vkc I use a catch-all on my domain, so my answer to that is always "yourcompanyname at halfacree.co.uk".

I'm not sure if I should be worried about what my fridge-freezer's temperatures are doing@philpem I had a Beko fridge and freezer (separate, under-counter things) - and they were crap. The fridge especially.
The new fridge/freezer is a Hoover, of all brands to stick on one - and it's much better, swinging from -21 to -13ยฐC on the freezer side during an automatic defrost cycle. No more melted lollies!

I'm not sure if I should be worried about what my fridge-freezer's temperatures are doing@philpem At a guess, your fridge-freezer is "frost free" and your garage freezer isn't.
The "frost free" ones blow (relatively) warm air around on a cycle in order to melt and evaporate frost, then go back to cooling before anything's ruined.
(Is the theory: I had to send a Fridgemaster back 'cos it failed at the last part and kept melting stuff in the freezer...)

Some for the smart-home crowd next with the #ESPHome 2026.1.0 release. As always, you can read all of that ad- and tracker-free over the #GeminiProtocol.
No, I won't stop going on about the Gemini protocol. It's ace.

Some for the smart-home crowd next with the #ESPHome 2026.1.0 release. And to finish, an automated fish feeder designed for accurate dispensing of very small amounts of food for littler fish - built using an #Arduino Nano, 3D-printed, and laser-cut parts.
Oh, and everything's been published so you can build your own.

It brings with it automatic Wi-Fi roaming, improved security, and a biiiig overhaul that means el cheapo Espressif ESP8266 devices are first-class citizens again. Huzzah!

Been a bit of a hectic day today, so the #Hackster round-up is a little later than usual. It's the first time I'm saying it this week, but it won't be the last: that's all also available via the #GeminiProtocol, ad- and tracker-free.

Been a bit of a hectic day today, so the #Hackster round-up is a little later than usual.(I know I said I was only doing four a day, but what can I say? I'm an overachiever.)
There's a startup called CANDYSIGN heading to @crowdsupply soon with the HummingKit, a "software-defined charger" for USB Power Delivery work.
No relation to the old HummingBoards I've probably still got in a drawer somewhere...

Been a bit of a hectic day today, so the #Hackster round-up is a little later than usual.A new chip from Espressif next, the ESP32-E22 - its first to boast tri-band (2.4/5/6GHz) Wi-Fi 6E connectivity.
It's being positioned as a communications coprocessor, but with two RISC-V cores running at 500MHz there's a heck of a lot of compute in that dinky package.

Been a bit of a hectic day today, so the #Hackster round-up is a little later than usual. Then some great work from Dr. Scott M. Baker in restoring an old CRT display - by polishing out its "cataracts."
Have at look at this one if only for the before-and-after shots, they're great!
