Weird to think in the 1940s and 50s toxic masculinity took the guise of tap-dancing@TheBreadmonkey throwing a small serious bomb into this - I work with a project delivering modern dance in the young offenders (18-25 year old) prison setting.
Have been in to watch performances and chat with the young lads. Absolutely incredible, transformational work.
Daily Heil would loath it of course but it's literally saving lives.

Boy I was wrong about the Fediverse https://matduggan.com/boy-i-was-wrong-about-the-fediverse/@Ruth_Mottram thanks for sharing. It made me think of Steve Bannon's saying "the real opposition is the media, and the way to deal with them is to flood the zone with shit".
I don't know if the fediverse is entirely shit-flood resistant, but fingers crossed it is better designed for that battle that other media.

Delivery van 'stuck on deadliest mudflat footpath'@bbcnewsfeed the route has only been superceded by a proper road for the last 100 years, but well done to the interweb for directing drivers out on to it once again.

In order to continue pissing off racists, post a song that you like that isn't in English.@selzero this is a traditional song in Scots Gaelic.
The song describes returning home to the braes of Loch Eil (the title).
You could interpret return, like other similar traditional songs, as meaning burial.
It was sung at a friend's funeral not so long ago by the daughter of the woman (a well known Scottish singer) singing here.

We never used the term "cake batter" when I was a kid, we said "cake mix."@HighlandLawyer @cstross @fesshole @Illuminatus @bjn three pals of mine married into established Italian families in Edinburgh during the 90s. Two of the couples got set up with new cafés/chippies as their wedding presents - apparently it is (or was) the done thing and all the extended relatives chip in to fund it. One of them told me that basically every single Edinburgh chippie belonged to one extended Italian family or another.
