COME FOR THE CRINGE STAY FOR THE CRINGEmeet me down in the marketplace of ideas and i'll spit right in your mouth before we are both smothered by four cement trucks driven by the last people with a US dollar on earth, who pour a transparent rapid permineralization concentrate over our bodies so a fleeting moment of emotion can be cast to the fossil record and sold as a palatial ornament

laughably wronghttps://resonantcomputing.org/thanks past me, i needed this right now
We must have an answer to the well meaning liberal that mistakes the dynamics of surveillance capitalism or their role in it: that understands that these knowledge graphs are not truly universal, that the LLMs are not sentient, but embraces their logic because they’re so useful. We have to understand why simply building open source LLMs or nonprofit linked data platforms is not a liberatory strategy. We have to have the courage to face the underlying structural informational problems in our organizations at all scales — that instead of reimagining how we work and communicate, we can’t simply strap “AI” onto our problems and expect to solve them. We have to recognize that sidestepping the hard socio-technological problems of information organization is a continuation of, not solution to the patterns that cause them.

laughably wronghttps://resonantcomputing.org/one could write an entire investigation, though maybe not a manifesto, on people so insulated from any kind of struggle or radical action by boatloads of money and their fetish for cosplaying radical language
-
laughably wronghttps://resonantcomputing.org/as a note on the prose form of "manifesto," a manifesto contends with intrinsic contradictions of a given system and takes firm position that rules out usually a dominant interpretation of that system. half-committing to a bunch of things everyone already thinks are good does not constitute a manifesto.
-
laughably wronghttps://resonantcomputing.org/@rakoo the principles are pretty good, and they are also correct that corporate tech at scale uses personalization as a weapon for mass control. their prescription is just like comical levels of disconnected with basic reality though.
-
laughably wronghttps://resonantcomputing.org/@BillySmith the masters tools can be used tactically in a broader project of demolishing the master's house, but that tactical use does not include literally building the master's house.

laughably wronghttps://resonantcomputing.org/I'm biased but i did it better.
https://jon-e.net/surveillance-graphs/#vulgar-linked-datarather than getting lost in the pure libertarian fantasy of everyone rediscovering and statistically summoning their own personalized hammer, we need to go precisely the opposite direction towards technologies that resist the drive to scale and centralization by making it possible to share resources and care for each other at all scales, from the person to the affinity group on up.
-
laughably wronghttps://resonantcomputing.org/Ai technologies satisfy not a single one of these principles.
-
laughably wronghttps://resonantcomputing.org/things that are true: corporate tech mines us for attention and holds us captive by our most intimate needs for profit
things that are hilariously false: corporate tech will allow us to build a utopia of personalized, high quality technology that lets us escape... corporate tech. -
