Various freak flags are fully let fly, and there's a lot of "OMG you too? I thought I was the only one."

Welcome!
My advice: Step 1 is "follow 30 hashtags". There's no algorithm, so that's what gets your timeline started with things your care about.
There's lots of further advice and good further steps to take, but hashtags are really good starter seeds on Mastodon. Have fun!

Welcome!

My rule for any new computer thing with a social aspect is: If they don't have any details on how they are going to moderate it, just skip it.
Well, I reported him, and am blocking.

Happy Hannahversary!
The Fediverse has a great collection of techies creating the protocols and infrastructure. What we're missing is the folks helping regular people use it.
Hopefully folks like Hannah will start creating that layer. Not just through advocacy, but by hiring staff dedicated to helping people use it.
I confess, at first I suspected that they were AI generated images, but then realized that Winteractive is happening:

It's especially fun when you stumble on a piece without looking for them. I saw the tentacle building two days ago that way.
Hmmm, Kyle Baker seems to have put out a title named "Nat Turner"? Sounds good to me.
Welcome back
Wacky, but doesn't beat the article where they compared the sound of digital music files stored on an NTFS file system versus those stored on an ext3 file system.
I can't remember which one won, but one of them reliably had a richer, fuller sound.
For shizzle!
Wow. It just broke $5k less than a week ago, right?
I mean, I know *why" people are standing up and giving, and that is horrible and sad and awful.
But they *are* giving, and maybe that can restore a bit of faith and hope and possibility.
Clearly that's not what their job is - not every newspaper shaped object is a newspaper.
There are subjects I've studied where I think "omg I don't understand this!". But I still know that my ignorance entails more knowledge than most people have, so it's probably worth it to share what I have if asked.
I'd bet an awful lot that it's the same thing with you and any J. Random Satellite. You've met people with profound knowledge, but you are a great communicator who actually has a lot of information to share.
You just need to manage your road coffee better. 😆
Seriously, no worries! (Oh god, I've become one of those assholes on Mastodon who does drive-by scolding! 😟)
Really, I just wanted to see how many of my "between Boomer and Gen-X" cohort would identify with that description.
You missed the "Bastards of Young" generation.
Oh, and there's an account here that shares these great photographs of beautiful Glasgow buildings. I never knew you had so many. I'm guessing if you follow #glasgow you'll see them.
