Can any of you make these animal hug socks? Can any of you make these animal hug socks? I don't know how much time it would take, or the cost of materials and the pattern, but they are really popular all of a sudden. I think they would look so cute to wear around the house. I've seen them in sloth, rabbit, panda, red tailed panda, koala, axolotl, bunny, bat, cow, dinosaur, raccoon, and tiger.
I would happily purchase these from an independent small business knitter. I would NOT buy them from a big company. (They won't be as nice as the picture anyway.)
Edited to say that it did not occur to me, but the image could certainly be A.I. generated in order to trick the consumer into buying an inferior product. What I am wondering is if it's possible to make this and have it look like the picture?

Whenever someone says that "This is the worst time ever" we need to remind them to add "for me."Whenever someone says that "This is the worst time ever" we need to remind them to add "for me." There's a whole big history where things have been much worse for others.
I have had to remind myself not to frame this incorrectly.

Serious question: Do you get irritated with longer alt text on images?Serious question: Do you get irritated with longer alt text on images? Or are you more bothered by unhelpful alt text, at any length? (I'll shorten alt text to A.T. ) multiple choice, for nuance and additional A.T. elements.
There's a lot here I need to work on. Thank you to Digital Accessibility for pointers.

I hate that anyone named Melissa will now be associated with this potentially deadly hurricane.I hate that anyone named Melissa will now be associated with this potentially deadly hurricane. I have a friend named Katrina who changed her name to Kat after the 2005 hurricane killed nearly 1400 people.
Maybe we could just name hurricanes/cyclones after the oil companies and the billionaires who profit off them? Have to reuse the names a lot, but we can just add numbers, like we do for Kings or Popes: ExxonMobil III or BP XIX.

I ended up going to two protests today.I ended up going to two protests today. The first one was the very first No Kings protest ever organized in that particular city (by a 15 yr. old, no less!) and attracted actual local media and their photographers for a crowd of about 200 people, including two wonderful inflatable costumed participants (Unicorn and Capybara). There were two trump flag trucks briefly harassing us, with cardboard covering the name of the businesses. The police walked back and forth slowly in front of the protest line, while they whispered to us that they didn't trust those guys, and this scared those guys away. The police then stayed at a respectful distance and were very professional. It was a lively crowd. We treated any chants against us as impromptu dance music and immediately made enough noise to drown them out. Most drivers did not react at all, so the positive responses were very scattered. But, shockingly, THREE fire trucks honked in support. I didn't think government vehicles were allowed to do that. 😃
I had to hurry to the second protest. There were so many events organized in so many cities, that the times were really overlapping. I'm so glad I went, though, as it was a much bigger crowd there, covering all four corners and down the streets of a large major intersection with a very long stoplight. There was nowhere for drivers to look without seeing us, so a few distressed folks covered their eyes, because seeing people holding signs was too traumatic for them, I guess.
The vast majority of drivers were incredibly enthusiastic in their approval and the constant honking was a beautiful cacophony. I am dying to know how many people were there, because it was the biggest crowd I'd ever seen at that location, by far. Also looking forward to hearing numbers from up in Atlanta.
I would also love to hear about your experiences, if you were able to participate today, and I hope you got to see some cool inflatables. Apparently frog costumes are sold out all over the country. I did see Snoopy and a Flying Squirrel at the second protest. But, it was too hot down here for most of us to handle a full-body costume. So proud of everyone.
