@CiaraNi Absolutely fantastic. Before reading the alt text I was trying to work out what I was looking at -- maybe windows in a modern skyscraper reflecting a grey sky, maybe the internal steel-clad wall of a warehouse. Maybe even a fairly colourless Mondrian-style work of abstract art.

Possibly the most patronising reply I’ve ever received on here.@afewbugs @Nickiquote I am sure that one day your "don't follow the reply guy" person will bump into my "don't follow the people without replies as they're just shouting at Fedi and never engaging in conversation" person and all sorts of hilarity will ensue.

I've got an odd request.@Teaceratops Would going eastwards be a viable option?
Cruise ship from Australia to Mexico or the USA, then overland to Mexico's Atlantic coast or NYC, and a cruise ship from there back to Blighty?

I just tried Marmite for the first time, and I ask as a friend: what's wrong with you people?@cstross @tek Charlie is of course pulling your leg here.
The proper way to deal with Marmite is to screw the top back onto the jar tightly, drop the whole damn thing in the rubbish (trash) and then preferably embark on a quest to Mordor to destroy it in the fires of Mount Doom. Just to make sure you never, ever have to encounter it again.
There's a reason the manufacturers use "I Hate Marmite" as one of their advertising slogans here in the UK. Really, they do.

#NIST have issued updated #password guidelines for businesses.#NIST have issued updated #password guidelines for businesses. Interestingly they now say that requiring special characters is no longer a recommendation, but longer passwords / passphrases (using spaces) is a better idea.
I say "interesting" because that's something I've been doing for many years, long before I discovered password managers to remember things for me.

Something came up at work today and this is an excellent place to learn something new.@oblomov @miffyhelen @FourT4 "WTF English" should really be the go-to expression for anyone learning this language, either as a second language or as a native speaker
