UPDATE: Inexplicably, the answer appears to have been to mute my microphone at the OS level, then disconnect from the bluetooth, then reconnect.

Maybe this popup box you get when clicking on items in the Bluetooth settings box would have done something, if I hadn't found the mute microphone trick yet.

I want to play a song for my friend! I connect to her bluetooth speaker.

The bluetooth speaker starts playing music but also starts blinking the text "CALL" (it has a screen). We don't know why it's doing that.

My friend looks in her speaker's manual. It says if this is happening, that on your PC you should go in your bluetooth settings and allow "media" but disallow "calls". I don't see anything related to "calls" in the GNOME settings. I don't know what it means for a laptop to get a "call".

UPDATE: After a great deal of confused, difficult effort trying to get an opus card, the card reader on the bus was broken so I got to ride for free.

@lritter @dysfun @solonovamax i am not a git user, i access git through mercurial and a bridge, and i name my main branches "stable" (the branch corresponding to the last official release) and "unstable" (the current wip/next-version development branch). this is both clearer and more useful than the branching conventions used by git users and i don't understand why anyone does things differently from me
