@ChateauErin I think I've used that. The two things I'm aiming for are
- Calculate multiple different vote processing methods
- Limit participation via fediverse or bsky

I am writing a little website that lets you do a ranked-voting polls. I wanted to do some sort of test poll before I let people create actual accounts. My plan was to do a "best Star Wars movie" poll, as it's a set of nine things that wide groups have opinions on. But I don't really feel like celebrating Disney's media ownership right now.
What else could I poll?
(I AM intending to do a ranked-choice poll of "best ranked choice voting system", which I think will kill on Mastodon, but not bsky)
UPDATE 2: Hey so guess what I just learned. Guess what happens when you ask a web browser to set a cookie on 127.0.0.1.
UPDATE: Mastodon has absolutely no problem with doing an oauth redirect to 127.0.0.1
Also really unsure how i'm gonna *test* this oauth code without deploying the whole damn thing to a server. I wonder if I try to register with Mastodon an app that claims its address is "127.0.0.1:5008" if Mastodon will tolerate that
I don't understand why you would use PKCE for an oauth when you could alternately store a key and have it be returned in the state. Is this like jwt and the idea is it's doing some weird crypto so you can fire off oauth from one server and have the request returned to something else in your load balancer and your own servers don't have to coordinate?
Social media was one step in de-democratizing the web because if you made something on your website, and posted it on your social media, the social media companies could bury those links in favor of posts that keep users corralled on a site they control. The meaning of the new "Agentic AI" browsers is that even if you can get people to visit your website, a corporation will be removing whatever you wrote or created and constructing in its place something else that suits their interests better
The web browser is a legitimately powerful force for human freedom and that is why the VCs are trying to destroy it https://infosec.exchange/@mttaggart/115226507937120105
What I'm listening to today: "souvenir d'autrefois", Trhä & Midoran
Asked on bsky for metal that makes every bar on the graphic equalizer jam all the way up. Blurry thrashy metal with kinda those stoner jam feels and this amazing softness like cassette tape, every blast of sound is a little bit rounded off. Ends with an inexplicable detour into… like… if I say "title screen music for a strip mahjong tabletop unit in a dingy bar in Kabukichō in 1994" will you understand?
@gizmomathboy @brazmogu i mean it is the case that links don't work on mastodon. that is a very real problem. but again it is not a problem we solved
@brazmogu @gizmomathboy However, I was also previously able to get this capability by simply saying "cw uspol" and including a link. So qbs give nothing *new*.
What I actually want is not embedded quote posts; what I want is links on Mastodon that work (even if you are linking to a different server which may use AUTHORIZED_FETCH). Mastodon quote posts actually don't provide this because you can only include one per post, also unlike Twitter or Bluesky you cannot include a quote in a reply.
RE: https://mastodon.social/@Mastodon/115224447782810898
In this post https://mastodon.xyz/@gizmomathboy/115226299071731154 @gizmomathboy suggested to me an actual use for quote posts: A post doesn't have a CW, so I add a CW and quote post.
Is that how quote posts work in the mastodon environment?
Related, I really hate that instead of just picking the visibility from a menu the screen blinks and I have to move the cursor aaaaaalllllll the way to the center of the screen and aaaaaaallllll the way back, just overall qb is a feature I don't intend to engage with but which is the thing I do on Mastodon, and a thing (communicating with people) I believe quote boosts are inherently antithetical to anyway
So the current behavior of Mastodon is if you click the boost button it offers a popup box asking if you want to boost or quote-boost, and if you hold shift and click the boost button it boosts. I have no current plans to ever quote boost because that does not match how I use this website. I wonder if I could reverse that behavior. Click to boost, shift-click to get the unusual menu w/quote boost.
This isn't an option, right? Could I use Tampermonkey?
@blogdiva if you wanna nail disney for transphobia i'd recommend starting here https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/disney-pulls-transgender-storyline-win-or-lose-1236088172/
the storyboard for the scene they cut leaked and it's… not only was it a spectacular work of short filmic art, it would have done so much, for the world, especially right now, for that to be put in front of kids. disney censored it because they think transes are dirty and have to be kept away from children and i don't know what disney thinks should happen to children who are already trans
So I've got pretty used to Lenovo devices having some weird quirks but my tablet having this recurring problem where all the system UI changes into Japanese and won't change back is just really a whole nother level
Have you tried turning your ego off and then back on again
Hey. I want to support adult artists.
Please recommend to me Itch comics, artbooks or ebooks that have been impacted by the recent mass delistings.
What I'd specifically be excited about:
- queer/trans stuff of any gender
- magical/cyberpunk bodyweird stuff a plus
- I personally don't want to attend the dubstep convention
(Also up for *non*-Adult queer fiction/comics recs on Itch if you want to drop recs! But I've been doing OK there on Kobo. Got stuck in a cul-de-sac of slow burn OL stuff)
The great thing is bluesky doesn't block either for non-logged-in users like it does for regular adult art. We found a type of horny that the anti-horny algorithm is not able to comprehend as horny
Boosting this on Mastodon instead of Bluesky because this is where the robotfuckers are
