i was trying to remember the boot sequence for a PDP 11/70 from disk.

i think that the 21 addr switches were an octal 17773052 but can't remember what we did with the 7 switches on the right. it was four movements, ending with "start"?

anyone remember better than me?

man pages should be written and maintained with all the same care and accuracy as the code they document. updating code and man page should be part of the "definition of done" for any changes.

(have been bitten by folks that didn't have this level of care...)

i tend to use search engines to find a tool if i don't already have one i think suitable.

for simpler tools, -h/--help usually works.

for anything complex, like curl/rsync/etc, the man page is usually my first stop.

pretty sure "blame the user" is the first, last, and only resort of those who can't be bothered to talk to users or worry about UI/UX design.

if they are getting paid for it, they might alternate "blame the user" with "works fine on my machine".
