actual door to door at my home this week:

me, answering door: "what are you selling?"

sales critter: "i'm not selling anything. i work for an advertising firm that would like to use your yard for marketing purposes."

narrator: "sure sounds like selling something..."

they'll use pretty much any greens, even dandelion greens. or mushrooms, just cheese, anything. it doesn't even have to be the ultra thin filo dough. there's a "rustic" version that can be 3-4mm thick. if there's "pie" and preferably feta cheese, it's a "pita".

i also prefer collard greens to spinach.

of course, "pitas" in greece are like omelettes, i.e. a great way to get rid of almost anything you have in the fridge. they call them based on ingredients, listing them all like the germans. i gave up at one point and started calling my partner's various meals "miscopitas" (miscellaneous pita).

there was a far side commercial with a guy at an ice cream parlor. the sign on the wall listed 3 flavors: vanilla, liver, and woodchips. the caption was "i'm sorry, sir. we're all out of vanilla.". yeah... really related to that often.

more and more, i'm aligned with the under 40 crowd (other than the constantly being glued to a smart phone). audio, politics, so many other areas, the old 60s saw of don't trust anyone over 30 doesn't seem that wrong...

i'd love to think this will encourage the return of actual physical headphone jacks on phones and laptops but there are not enough paranoid consumers, i fear.
