@mlevison Goodhart's law in action. Actually, I'm not sure it even is an example of Goodhart's law. Raw quantity of code output would never have correlated strongly with quality. What do they think they're doing‽

@eruonna The idea that basic food and shelter are things that people can "not deserve" is deeply troubling to me.

@eniko Even if you're just talking about design/UX, that's been steadily going downhill for a very long time now. It basically peaked with the original iPhone.

@FediTips I just glanced through the article to see how you were using the word. You even explained how you were using it and why while acknowledging that other meanings exist. @lydiaconwell I don't do a lot of writing in sci-fi, but when I do, I have a dark "shielded" observation deck for stargazing. The "shield" is just a gravity field dome a few feet think that pushes inward hard enough to make the air density drop to 0 over a few feet.

The quality of the stargazing on spaceships is maybe something I think about too much 🤔
