@beecycling @paninid It can't happen until there are supply stations between us and Mars. If someone needed medical attention, forget it. It's months away. If the food was destroyed in an accident, replacement food is months away. There are no rivers to fish; no tress to cut for any need. You cannot go outside without a space suit. If they begin to leak, you're dead. There are no penguins, there is no snow, and what ice there is on Mars is mostly made of CO2.
Anyone engaging in this fantasy without first creating the steps necessary to service a colony that far away is not thinking clearly. It's many years away, for the billionaires have to figure out how building otherwise useless support stations makes them trillionaires. There aren't enough people with enough money to make this kind of space tourism pay. Deep Space 9 was fantasy.
Now, of course, if they want the next Epstein to have a Martian supply station, talk about an island child victims of the rich and powerful cannot escape from.
