Wow. The DaVinci Resolve manual is 4200 pages. That is impressive, and seems like a big plus. (Wonder if most of it is about features only in the paid version, though.)

The second section in the manual is literally called "Why Is This Manual So Big?"

iMovie is way too odd and restricted IMHO. I want something better, even though I am not a YouTuber or in any way professional. I just want to edit my own amateurish video clips and photos into nice videos I might then occasionally show for friends and family.

So, will the free edition of DaVinci Resolve be good enough for me, or should I splurge on Final Cut Pro? I could afford it, but don't really want to.

As DaVinci Resolve is cross-platform, does that mean that it uses an own cross-platform UI toolkit with paradigms that just feel weird on Mac? I mean, just starting it (only thing I did so far), no normal buttons on its title bar, how do I make it full-screen if that is what I would want? Etc.

And yes, I know, it is free so I should just try it and then if I decide I don't like it, get Final Cut Pro. But by then I will have a few projects already done in DaVinci Resolve left stranded. Not ideal either.

It's not often that a complicated conjecture in mathematics gets disproven and it turns out it is quite easy to explain the conjecture, and also to demonstrate the counterexample. Well done.

I guess the same good things about Scheme (as compared to Common Lisp) that have always (?) been mentioned are still true, "The latest standard R6RS is about 65 pages, while the ANSI Common Lisp standard from 1994 is about 1100 pages" etc? Loved the SICP book.

I dreamt about #Lisp last night. About implementation details, which I really don't know much about, even if I might have read some papers about various garbage collection techniques etc many decades ago.

Maybe I should check out the current state of the art, build some open source Lisp or #Scheme system, just out of general interest? And it might be fun to do some Lisp or Scheme coding, too. (I used to claim to prefer Scheme, even if I haven't used either "for real".)
