@aspensmonster It's not really a client bug per se, since #Mastodon philosophy is to keep the 500 char limit for everything (which I fully support, as one of the big reasons I enjoy #Fediverse (which we all once upon a time called #microblog-ing, remeber?) is that it helps me practice concision in my writing — a skill I struggle with.I think it's just a UI bug on both sides: #Tusky should warn but not stop you at 500, & web client should indicate you have to edit with a different client.

But as far as I understand, this is a cross-poster script to fetch JSON from last.fm and create a normal post using v1 mastodon API.I'm more looking for a platform that can do scrobbling. something that can be used as scrobbler rather than using a centralized platform.@redstar

@strypey I wish it was that clever! It's a combination of three things, I think:1. My UI research showed that people were not bringing their personal connections to Mastodon because of the lack of private messaging. At SWF, we prioritized this as an important issue for growth. See https://evanp.me/2023/05/15/re-designing-the-mastodon-user-interface-for-better-personal-relationships/2. @tomcoates and I proposed it as a project for Summer of Protocols. We spent a few months really digging deeply on the topic.

@smallcircles @spraoi @gumnos @evanBefore we started internalizing the jargon from across the pond, we Italians had a habit of simply calling someone a “testa di cazzo,” roughly “dickhead.” It was neutral and inclusive: it could apply to anyone. We didn't need words like fascist, racist, homophobe, antivaxxer, Russian troll, or whatever else is trendy. Someone could simply be a dickhead. Nothing less, nothing more.

@praetorim @brandonlivesin it works fine with lemmy and other threadiverse platforms when you enable Blog and Author Actors! This way, the plugin creates a Blog User that lemmy handles as topic and all posts by the blogs users will be published as threads in this topic!
