@stux I'd say host a Matrix server for your community instead. Disable federation if you're concerned with server resources. Disable encryption by default if you're concerned with non-savvy users that will regularly lose their history. Savvy users will enable it anyway.

@grim_elsewhere I do like Alien as well, but I feel Aliens is the better film.I really like that (although some may call it pandering) the feminine characters are so strong!Like, in the first Alien, you could mistake Ripley for a "final girl"But there's not one single minute in Aliens where you think "oh shit Ripley don't got this!" and it's just a matter of telling an interesting environmental story where the right person overcomes stacked risks and looks cool doing it.

@apps is there actual data that supports the claim that " the indexable flag is enabled by default on most instances"? Working with starter packs recently, I know that a lot of people have the flag disabled by default and don't even know that they have to opt-in into that in order to have any meaningful presence.@Bredroll @tragivictoria

@oblomov @mcSlibinas @calcifer I didn't get it until you mentioned DOS.I've used PC-DOS/MS-DOS some, all the way back to August 12, 1981, the day the IBM PC was introduced, and my boss bought one that day.But the vast majority of my experience is with DEC operating systems, and UNIX and UNIX-like systems (including Linux).PC-DOS and MS-DOS aren't even the operating systems that first come to my mind when I just see "DOS". I'm more likely to think of Apple DOS, or even IBM mainframe DOS.
