@eniko so it will not render to a video device then and hence be slower than a native implementation. Video devices aren’t portable as there are no standard abstractions in C. So one requirement you can cross off your list.

@eniko One time there was a mouse in my old apartment. We saw it scurrying around at times but never saw any other sign of it.When we moved out, we were emptying out the pantry and pulled out the tray we toss single serving condiments packets in when we get takeout. Every packet of mayo was ripped open and licked clean and evenly other condiment completely untouched.
@tess was the issue the dead keys altogether or the fact that the primary function of the apostrophes was dead keys? IIRC there's a variant where '`"~ do their regular stuff but AltGr (right alt) + key does the dead accent.
