Finished my mail-in ballot for the #Munich city council election. 1 vote for the next mayor. 31 votes for the local council, 80 votes for the city council. In total around 2 square meter of paper. Uffa. Democracy is work. Especially for the brave citizens that will count the votes. You have my biggest respect!

No digital votes. Paper and pen. Because democracy deserves the paper trail. And I will not discuss that. This is an axiom for me. Democracy needs a paper trail. Counting the votes in public, as we do here, is the ceremony that builds trust. I will be there. To observe and cheer on the people doing the count. They are heroes in my book.

@jwildeboer Though there will be a digital count for the BA 19 (half traditional counted, half digital; and only for the mail in votes)

@AndiBarth Are they counting paper ballots or is there digital voting? You clarified that it is about counting the mail-in votes, so they are scanning the paper ballots, which can be recounted. I am all for digital solutions *after* the vote was on paper, allowing a recount.

@jwildeboer I'd like to be able to vote more incrementally instead of a big-bang every four years.
