I really want to support Xbox. But the consumer in me—the part that wants the most value for every dollar—just can’t justify it.
Steam has completely spoiled me. If I want the console experience, I can just build a PC, install Bazzite Linux, and have it boot straight into Steam’s Gaming Mode. It works beautifully—I’ve set it up on my wife’s Lenovo Legion Go, and it runs perfectly on a TV with a dock.
The two advantages Xbox should have are price and accessibility. But the hardware isn’t competitively priced anymore, and Microsoft just hiked the cost of Game Pass by 50%.
