The real danger isn’t people using AI. It’s people pretending we have 10 leisurely years to debate whether it should exist.
If lawmakers had waited that long to address Facebook, the consequences would have made 2016 look like a warm-up.
The conversation that matters now isn’t “should AI exist.” It already does, at planetary scale. The conversation is what happens next. Who owns the models. Who gets compensated. What consent looks like. How environmental cost is regulated. What labour protections are created. How we prevent a handful of corporations from bottling the future.
Personal boycotts can be morally meaningful, but they are not a governance strategy. They don’t fix scraping, copyright, inequality, or emissions. Policy does. Collective action does. Public pressure does. Democratic oversight does.

@atomicpoet There is no harm reduction strategy for AI which is not a loss for humanity. It doesn't matter if I get compensated for my work being stolen by AI, it's still stolen. It doesn't matter if "less AI" is better than "more AI", The world with "some AI" in it is still not a world worth living in. We've created a mind-virus that consumes anything and everything and is literally designed to wiggle around regulations. I don't see why we should be talking about how much to surrender to it.

at the time when my desire would be to curl up on the bed, under the duvet, I will instead have to face the darkness, the cold¹, and the wild, hungry beasts² to bring out the bins
¹ 2°C, according to the sensor. not *that* cold, if I didn't just get outside without bothering to wear warmer clothing than the ones I'm wearing inside, because it's just a couple of minutes, and the thermal underwear will keep me warm long enough (cue hands and nose freezing :D )
² notOurCat often sleeps nearby at this hour, and will definitely wake up when the door opens :D

Il fatto è che ci sono tantissime persone che ritengono Telegram qualcosa di bello, di "pulito". Fortuna che c'è Durov a ricordarci ogni tanto chi c'è dietro!
