@shoofle jk. I have a soft spot for cassettes, but I only have a few. Floppy disks confer immense satisfaction. CDs are pretty. CD roms w/ printed labels that have a subtle texture from dithering are a favorite. I love cartridge based game media, though lately my gameboy games have been breaking my heart as their batteries die.
However, I think at the top of the list is old CD RWs with hand written labels.

@shoofle now days if a friend is into a TV show they go "YOU NEED TO WATCH [SHOW] IT STARTS SLOW JUST BINGE IT FOR THREE SEASONS" and I ask how to watch show and they say "ITS ON [RENT SEEKING SUBSCRIPTION WEBSITE]" and I lose interest.
When I was in school, if a friend wanted me to watch a show, they showed up to class with a stack of like nine CDs. That's how I watched all of cowboy bebop, all of full metal alchemist, and random episodes of ranma 1/2 and chobits.

@shoofle I caught myself moping briefly because nobody brings me CDs full of random pirated media, warez, and/or linux anymore, but then I remembered one of my friends still regularly brings Files into my life sneakernet style just he does it with a usb drive and though that does not result in a physical artifact being created i feel the warmth of friendship nevertheless.

@shoofle so I guess what I'm saying is my tier list for physical media is:
1. piracy, as a love language
2. objects that are pleasant to hold and have an enticing tangible shape or texture or make pleasant mechanical noises when you insert them into the appropriate contraption
