The fun never stops! There's old siding under the modern siding. And the old siding is... let's say suspiciously heavy and fireproof looking.

They did the right thing, which is to encapsulate it. They covered it in a radiant barrier and then modern siding. I just wish that someone had informed me. Eh, maybe I'll just leave it in there. I've cracked a few of them while demoing the wall (good thing I've been treating _all_ dust like it's hazardous) but it's not crumbling or anything. It's safer entombed in the wall than getting handled by a bunch of waste disposal folks.
