Alonso arrived just in time for lunch.
We had a leftover lamb chop (I know, how is that even possible?!) and used it to make lamb nachos, which Alonso was very excited to share a bit of.
He is now very contentedly curled up under my desk.
Big day for Alonso! He made two new friends!
We started taking him for a walk to the lac, which he was very excited about. I even took the camera to get some photos of him for his International fans.
Before we got there, however, the two longdogs that appeared in our driveway a few weeks ago came running up to us to say hello. Seems they live at a house that's just being renovated.

After a brief pat from us, the two dogs ran up to Alonso and surrounded him, towering over our little hero. Alonso stood his ground.
After a sniffographic key exchange and creating a shared secret, they started a private conversation that we weren't party to, although the exposed metadata suggests some sort of game was afoot.
Alonso and the other two dogs disappeared chasing each other and playing. We waited a moment before continuing to the lac without him.

Alonso topped off his International Dog Day with a sleepover, as his owners didn't come to collect him yesterday.
A storm 🌩️ rolled through early this morning, which was Alonso's cue to find a way to lie across both of us to make sure neither of us could escape.

After an exciting walk to the lac followed by breakfast, Alonso's owner came to collect him. She warned us that he might be back later today. This warning is probably not required at this point in our relationship, but we appreciate the concern.

Well, she wasn't wrong. Alonso is back.
We had another huge storm with strikes very close by and the power was knocked off again.
Poor Alonso was out in it and arrived absolutely *soaked* but was too worked up to let us towel him off properly.
Such a brave boy, who deserves some croquettes, non?

We've told Alonso's owners it's ok for him to stay until tomorrow. I hope they leave him here. When he's run all that way because he's scared I'd rather he's not taken straight back.

Alonso was allowed to stay. His owner texted back to thank us for looking after him. She was still at work and likely to be working late.
We had instant noodles for dinner between power cuts and had an early night as all three of us were shattered. The power was knocked out a few times overnight with more electrical storms 🌩️
Nuclear power may well be wonderfully stable but, if combined with long runs of overhead power lines, we're often back to rubbing sticks together.
Time to look at solar.

Alonso has been thrown out of the kitchen for bad behaviour.
He is now repeatedly searching every other room in the house for my other half, who he knows perfectly well is in the kitchen preparing dinner.

We have what must be a year's supply of dog food for Alonso. We ordered some, and then his owners gave us a big bag of his "senior" kibble and some chews.
We have been feeding Alonso regular adult dog food, which he evidently prefers.
When given a bit of each he will demolish the adult dog food and ignore the smaller "senior" kibble to first come see what we're eating.
Only when he's *sure* we're finished will he eat his old manny porridge, clearly thinking "I get this rubbish at home!"

He ran down the hill, and stopped looking back at us, wondering why we weren't coming. 😔
At this point his owner drove up and greeted us. We pointed down the hill "[Alonso] est la". She peered down the hill, at the distant white object, thanked us, and drove down to pick him up 👋

Took Alonso for his walk to the lac.

On the way back Alonso stood under a tree to rest in the shade. As we were about to walk on he came running up in a big arc and... ran smack into my stationary leg. 💥 This was quite a surprise to both of us, but Alonso tried to style it out 🤣

Alonso's coordination and balance aren't great it must be said. Whenever we see him standing on anything high (like the dam wall by the lac) we wonder if he should really be trusted with that much gravity...

This is one conspiracy I don't get at all. What does a billionaire get from decreasing the population in Africa using vaccines? I mean even the "turning frogs gay with chemicals" conspiracy has some basis, but this one has no grounds at all.
