I don't like that you can deactivate an account for a short period but you can't do that here.

@jalcine a boolean flag is the easy part. the hard part is getting 100 softwares to understand the boolean flag and 30,000 servers to update :-)

@jalcine of course you could just settle for a local-only deactivation, and accept that remote servers will continue to show your profile and posts unaware. i think there might be an issue about this for mastodon at least

@trwnh @jalcine there are probably ways to do it that don't require 100+ pieces of software to learn your new flag.
I'd probably change the account name and description to "[Suspended]" and make new properties for the former name and description and so on.
So software that wants that info can get it, but everyone else sees a clear indication that the account is shut down.

@evan @jalcine that doesn't hide existing posts, though. the goal is to make things not show up during the deactivation window. in a system where everyone fetches from one origin, this is easy. in a system where each origin maintains its own state, this becomes a state synchronization problem.
bluesky can do it easily because their "one origin" for most people is bsky.app, which 99.99% of people use as opposed to something like deer.social which lets you ignore flags.

Fresh Figs for dinner, possibly followed by vanilla bean ice cream. There was other food today, but I don't recall, oh there was a mini It's It ice cream sandwich for brunch, and Propel electrolytes with reverse osmosis water (daily routine).
Fig season is as critical as strawberry season; so thanks to Mutti for the lovely farm produce — what would I do without you? 💖

@rrika the last time I tried to install KDE on a system that already had gnome installed on it, it took out my audio. however, this was in the distant past, the year 2023

aaaaaa, multitouch gestures work properly in krita now, and KDE doesn't assume that no application could ever possibly want to use three+ touch points for anything. this is wonderful!
EDIT: I spoke too soon, KDE has a 3 finger touch gesture that does bad things if you have multiple monitors active (or I just didn't trip it somehow)
EDIT2: turning off KDE's "overview" desktop effect seems to be a viable workaround for allowing other applications to use their own 3+ finger gestures

@paninid @jalefkowit that has nothing to do with the number, though. If it's about numbers, and if that number is ~150, then there ought to be thousands, maybe millions, of maladaptive personalities like Musk out there caused by moderation.
If it's something else (maybe in addition to numbers) then selection matters.
I suspect cause and effect may be getting mixed up. Musk was already a canker sore on the discourse, he bought Twitter because he cannot fill the void in his narcissistic soul.
