Yesterday, I teased good news. So today, here it is.From now until the end of the year (midnight EST on 12/31), I have marked down my books by 26% on Rakuten Kobo. Now you too can read the first two books of the Arcane Revolution trilogy, completely free of DRM, on the e-reader of your choosing. The books are pulpy thriller-esque urban fantasy adventures pitting a veteran homicide investigator against a shadowy government spook for no lesser stakes than the ongoing freedom of humanity. In a nation still scarred by magical terrorism a decade previous, Agency Division is losing its ability to keep magic secret and controlled. This is merely the first component of today's good news. If this sale goes well for me, it will help with the second piece. More to follow later in the day.#books #selfpromo #indyauthor #pleaseboost

Terry Pratchett’s on Tolkien’s influence on fantasy:J.R.R. Tolkien has become a sort of mountain, appearing in all subsequent fantasy in the way that Mt. Fuji appears so often in Japanese prints. Sometimes it’s big and up close. Sometimes it’s a shape on the horizon. Sometimes it’s not there at all, which means that the artist either has made a deliberate decision against the mountain, which is interesting in itself, or is in fact standing on Mt. Fuji.#ttrpg #discworld #pratchett #books

During the birdsite's heyday, it was a place where we engaged with other people who cared about sending #books to incarcerated #readers. We followed and retweeted #prison book programs in the US, Canada, UK, and France. We also chatted with many of our volunteers and supporters. We love Mastodon, but are finding it a bit lonely. We would love to follow other groups that send books to people in #prisons. Does anyone have recommendations for whom we should follow?Boosts welcome.
