I repeat, it's physically impossible to meet any motor traffic here. So it is very peaceful, safe and comfortable to ride and walk completely uninterrupted. Just bliss.
@pekkatahkola lovely photos! I’ve only seen frost like that once in Czech Republic in 2017. So thick on trees it was like lichen. I wonder if there’s a specific name or term for that?

@CosmicCactus I bet not on regularly maintained lanes, as non-icy snow grips even thin and slick bike tires quite well -- as surprisingly it might feels the first times.

@pekkatahkola Lovely pictures, but I have to say, I lived for six months in the rural area outside Kuopio (albeit 37 years ago) so I'm not sure I'd be too eager to try Oulu even farther north. You're up at 65N and I'm down here at 42N thinking the days are still too short. A different kind of folk to be sure.

@AlexaFontanilla2024 Jyväskylä was also really decent to cycle at in winter (especially the rantaraitti but also going towards off city), but here in "country side" of uusimaa is just depressing, mostly danger of being hit by both cars going way too fast and way too close and (insane amounts of) deer 🙃 there's no alternative small roads or forest trails anywhere within easy reach.

Beautiful! But don't you have problems with the gear switch and brakes freezing stuck? That is what keeps me from cycling when temperature drops below zero. (Dutch bike with 8-speed hub and roller brake.) -

Ma che miracolo mi sta facendo il frigo nuovo! I #consumi mi sono calati quasi del 50% costante per tutti i mesi da quando l'ho cambiato 🤩 sono al quarto mese di fila quindi posso escludere che sia un cambio di attività da un anno all'altro.
