@danmccullough building your home where it rains food, genius level

@danmccullough I had to actually pull our bird feeder today and put up the upside down suet feeders back up with hot pepper suet. The squirrels were spending all day raiding the feeder and none of the birds were getting to it. Mind you I was using safflower seeds laced with hot pepper concentrate and they were eating it like candy.
@Sober_Guy Lol. I find the hot pepper concentrate items do a great job at not attracting bears, but other critters kind of snicker at it. 😅

@malusdraco I’m in Massachusetts/USA. It’s a Red Squirrel, at least the New England kind. 😂 Here’s a pic of the whole little monster. The red coloring is a little more obvious.

@danmccullough sure enough! That is NOT one of those grays with the suspiciously red coat. Though it’s interesting that there does appear to be some gray near the white belly. I’ve always wondered if there were some crossbreeding going on, but we don’t have so many red squirrels where I live (also MA!) and do get the grays with a lot of red in their coats. 🤔

@malusdraco Yes, we have some red flushes on some of the grays and we also have a decent population of the all black variety!

My sister got a video of a squirrel doing an acrobatic act to get into her bird feeder. They do not view it as a bird feeder, I told her, they view it as a feeder 😉. They do not get the concept that you would only be putting food out for one type of animal and not all of them. I hope I can get a copy of the video at some point.
