@Luanti kids dont stop asking me for cute shader effects for beautiful rendering like they see with minecraft videos! Do you have such things planned or already possible? I dont think you can affect rendering with lua mods, right?

Have you explored the Effects tab of the settings menu? We already support dynamic shadows, tone mapping, dynamic exposure, bloom, and volumetric lighting

As for more graphics effects - our priority is unlocking more capabilities for game developers. For example, it would be great to see a materials API. This would allow game and mod developers greater control over how their worlds look https://github.com/luanti-org/luanti/issues/8854
There's the following PR with some new visual effects: https://github.com/luanti-org/luanti/pull/15417

Lua mods currently can't add new effects, but you can always make engine mods. For example, there was an engine mod for screen space reflections a while back

@Luanti For Debian Trixie users: While waiting for 5.15 to appear in sid, you can package Luanti 5.15 yourself with just a few commands:
Add sid sources to sources.list and then
sudo apt build-dep luanti=5.14.0+dfsg-2
sudo apt install libsdl2-dev devscripts
wget https://github.com/luanti-org/luanti/archive/refs/tags/5.15.0.tar.gz https://deb.debian.org/debian/pool/main/l/luanti/luanti_5.14.0+dfsg-2.debian.tar.xz
tar xf 5.15.0.tar.gz
cd luanti-5.15.0
tar xf ../luanti_5.14.0+dfsg-2.debian.tar.xz
dch --newversion 5.15.0-1 'New upstream version 5.15.0' </dev/null
sed --in-place -r 's/^.*run-unittests.*$|^.*dh_auto_test$//' debian/rules
dpkg-buildpackage -b
