@Gina US Big Tech owning and controlling all of our essential infrastructure, what could possibly go wrong?!
When I was a clerical assistant in the 2000s even our little office for environmental health had a better sense of information & data security, as well as disaster recovery, all using on-prem and Colo hardware where they had complete control over everything.
'Big Cloud' has been a disaster waiting to happen for critical services for years and the US data centres popping up everywhere...

I've just seen that one train from Lugano to Malpensa has been running 1 minute early (but not to worry, not it's back to being 1 minute late :D ) so the alternative route seems to be working regularly
the description of the disruptions on the Como line reminded me of the Crypto-Bolshevik Insurrectionist card in Munchkin Steampunk (i.e. nobody understands them), but they also give hope that the EC may be actually traveling to Milan, only skipping the stop in Como (or maybe not)

I guess what I was saying when I wrote this is that the web has become a sea of silos that don’t interop with each other.
But if they did, this is how they would do it.
Example: podcast software agrees on the format of audio files. It’s ridiculous that text apps each think they can limit the features of text documents, in incompatible ways, esp since the web is so clear on the features of text documents.

That’s fair. The use case is that any app that proposes to be part of the web should minimally support these features of the web.
Examples include Bluesky, mastodon, twitter, threads.
I know they won’t, because they haven’t so far.
