This is a tough one. I essentially gave up anonymity on the internet when I became a professional programmer, just because I needed my work to be associated with my real name as a portfolio. But before that, I was mostly anonymous (with a consistent handle) on the internet. I miss it at times. I sometimes toy with the idea of creating a separate anonymous identity again (I think my usual handle is pretty traceable to me now), but to date I haven't. -

Yes this seems like the friction point. Be known to get work, promote work, but wanting to actually be anonymous.
