An Industrious Grocer in the 1930s Wanted to Make It Easier for His Customers to Buy More. They Just Needed a Push"There was a time when shoppers could buy only as much as they could carry. And as ubiquitous as shopping carts are today, it initially took some convincing to use them."https://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/industrious-grocer-1930s-wanted-make-easier-customers-buy-more-just-needed-push-180987633/#history

Humans are insane.Case and point - there were FULL PLANS to make a TANK driven with #nuclear power......Something that is meant to get shot at, and gets blown up no matter how much armor you give it as humans are SPECTACULAR at figuring out ways to blow stuff up.Someone had to go "hey guys, maybe radioactive material getting scattered everywhere by explosions, or irradiated tank crews are really bad ideas," as radiation shielding was also an issue.#writing #military #history #humor #war

The Arrow's Ghost: A Legacy of Lost PotentialFollowing the Arrow's cancellation, all completed jets, blueprints, & manufacturing equipment were to be destroyed. This controversial decision prevented the aircraft from being sold or preserved. The fallout led to a 'brain drain' as many of Canada's top aerospace engineers moved to the US, contributing to NASA's Mercury and Apollo programs. #Canada #AvroArrow #Engineering #History 🇨🇦https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avro_Canada_CF-105_Arrow

🚡🇬🇪 High above a Georgian mining town, rusting cable cars hang motionless on their lines. Built to carry miners and ore across the mountains, these small metal cabins were nicknamed "metal coffins" by the those that once used them for their daily commute.Nowadays, the cable car network is under renovation. But, some relic cars and Soviet Modernist stations can still be explored.Full feature live Saturday 8pm (UK)⠀#Georgia #Chiatura #History #Photography #Explore #AbandonedPlaces #Urbex
