Security camera #recommendations please!
After getting a bike nicked from a locked shed in a locked yard a couple of weeks ago, @rpbook and I are looking into setting up a security camera.
We've tried using apps on phones and tablets and they just didn't work well, so we're looking at spending actual money on a dedicated device.
There is a convenient window it can live in, so it doesn't need to be weatherproof. There's a nearby socket for power, so battery life is irrelevant.
It must:
- take clear video / images in the dark
- not rely on some third party server that might disappear
- not cost thousands
- just keep running without much active poking
- be available in the #UK
We'd like it to:
- take video when movement is detected
- store files to our NAS in sensible formats
- notify us when it starts recording (by email, for preference)
- be available somewhere less icky than Amazon
- have good after sales service
- be simple to use and check (though we can manage a degree of technical setup because Robin is a computer toucher)
So, folks, what do we think?
TIA -

Frigate
TP link cameras for the IP address and stick a SD card in for back up
If you have a old computer frigate should be able to work on that ... Another way is install home assistant and then frigate as a add in
I love frigate ... Set up is medium level ... I found Gemini helped a lot with config files
Ask any questions,.and if I can answer I will

TP link cameras I have played with us the c210 for ratcam setup and c264 for other things
The reason I'm using tp link is that they last 3 to 4 years like most other stuff ... And a good price point
The tapo link is also good and easy to use
