Once you understand enough about the dark magic economics Pig Empire society is built around, you start to view pools of capital as an inherent evil. A lot of the worst decisions in our society are ultimately dictated by pools of capital; sure, there are people making decisions, but the leverage to do so is because of the size of the pool.
Of course, if you LOVE extraction, then "creating a big pile of money" (through theft) is an inherent GOOD to you.

@angusm @dashdsrdash @cstross It may be obsolete information, but a couple of decades ago it was worked out that the US would need one million soldiers to occupy Iran and only have it be as chaotic as the occupation of Iraq. Fewer troops, worse outcomes.
