I don't have a nice cozy way to wrap this up. I'm frustrated, but I want to be encouraging. I'm seeing more and more people who get it. I just wish most of them didn't have to become disabled first.
You may have the opportunity to do something BEFORE you're disabled. You'll still have consequences at some point. But you can keep it from being worse. And you can protect others, and help others protect themselves, so in 50 years the world won't be dismayed by your hopeless inaction.

@nat I'm too exhausted and unfocussed to read such a book...But are there any general easy tips that could help with exhaustion after a Covid infection?
After close to seven years of masking I had the...2nd? 3rd? infection and now I'm constantly exhausted and unfocussed (but maybe the lack of focus is just a result of the exhaustion).
I cannot focus enough to find out how to inprove this.
Every day is like after a bad night.
(Don't say ask a medical pro, they don't even believe this is real)

A vanishingly small number of people can be certain they've never had COVID. By and large, these are people who have always taken a very high level of precautions, including regular **accurate** testing (not rapids).
The rest of us? We're waiting to see HOW our long covid shows up.
The best thing we can do is avoid further COVID infections.
Your Paleo diet will not save you from your decision not to wear a respirator.
Yoga and meditation cannot undo repeat COVID exposure.

@nat Great post! People aren't willing to adjust their lifestyle so they will keep getting sick from covid. I hate how they are hiding this.

@erebion I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2019 and it's now considered to be an autoimmune condition. There is a lot of overlap between what's supportive for fibro, autoimmune, and long covid conditions.
Effexor is the prescription med that's been most helpful for me (SNRI) and it helps w fatigue as a mild stimulant.
Rest, some forms of meditation, and other nervous system regulation and somatic tools can be helpful. But start w fibro & long covid support communities!!

We need to care SO MUCH about each other that we stop trying to go with the flow. We can't limit ourselves to change work that is popular and supported by our friends and families.
Because the same people who were all about "flattening the curve" and shaming Trumpists for flouting masks and shunning vaccines are now... not masking and not getting regular boosters, for reasons that have nothing to do with science and everything to do with peer pressure.
Y'all are capable.

So yes, please, take the action that feels most pressing today. And think about the kind of world you want to have, and what it takes to build it. How can you incorporate COVID awareness and clean-air precautions into your activism and your community? This is not just about protecting ourselves and our familiesāthough that certainly will allow us to continue our work much more sustainably.
We need to shift the tide. We need to change the norms.
We need to be loud, and maybe even obnoxious.

@nat I'm a rare Novid. Ask the people who know me well. I live like a hermit in a one human household. And I do not leave my apartment without putting an N95 on my face first. And it stays on until I'm back inside my apartment. I have been doing this for years.
No one enters my home without a negative PlusLife test or an N95 on their face.
And I have never been positive on a NAAT.
I lost my partner of 7 years because I'm not the "fun girlfriend" I was in 2018 and 2019.

@nat yeah we took a lot of precautions, but we still can't be sure. we didn't always have access to tests. one time we didn't hear back about a lab result.

I've been using this exact distinction for a while now. Since Korean, my native language, has distinct terms for the system (<span lang="ko">ė°ķģ</span>), the point in time (<ruby lang="ko">åƦč”ę<rp>(</rp><rt>ģ¤ķ ģ</rt><rp>)</rp></ruby>), and the duration (<ruby lang="ko">åƦč”ęé<rp>(</rp><rt>ģ¤ķ ģź°</rt><rp>)</rp></ruby>), using a single spelling for all three in English always felt a bit blurry to me. This spelling convention helps bridge that gap and makes technical writing much more precise.
Personally, I find the meaning as indicated by Google's style guide the most clear, combined with an explicit case for hyphenation:
Runtime: use the system meaning. E.g. āthe runtime was updated last week,ā or āI'm using version 21 of the Java runtime.ā
Run-time: use the moment meaning, but only when used in the adjective position. E.g. ārun-time instrumentation is useful for finding bugs.ā
Run time: use the duration meaning. E.g. āthe run time was reduced by 5%,ā or āa run time of five minutes is unacceptable.ā In addition, when you want to use the moment meaning, but not as an adjective, this form should also be used. E.g. ātypechecking happens at run time in our implementation.ā
