good thing there's no good 2020s games
but mm yeah decent for a laptop but I'd definitely go for a cheap dGPU in a desktop@izzy@social.shadowkat.net @eniko@mastodon.gamedev.place I wonder if the used market wisdom is still to get Polaris

@izzy@social.shadowkat.net @eniko@mastodon.gamedev.place huuuh I've seen them go for much less, like half

it *is* actually faster than my 2012 laptops gpu! by 50%
lmao
to be fair my 2012 laptop was pretty good at the time (asus n56vz)
@eniko On the other hand, the iGPUs built into AMD HX 370 class CPUs are actually pretty damned impressive and comparable to a lot of mid range dedicated GPUs in laptops.

@eniko I use passmark to get a general ballpark idea, I used to use user benchmarks before I realised a lot of results didnโt line up with reality.
I have a 5600g and I used it for a while before getting a video card, and the answer is: performance bad. It was enough to play deep rock galactic at medium settings, anything that looks good runs kinda bad.
@Mudlark @eniko can confirm "performance bad" for 5600G, idk if 5700G is any better.
I mean, the CPU is great. The GPU, uhh, well it can, in fact, output a video signal reliably.
Anecdotally, I could play Risk of Rain 2 on my ancient NUC6i7KYK and I can't on this. Part of it is certainly RoR2 getting worse, but still, wow.

conclusion: my igpu is trash lol
Iโm pretty sure most, if not all, igpus are trash when compared to modern dgpus :)
@luana @eniko Even older dgpus. My old 1050ti dog walked near everything but current gen high end igpus, and those still get dog walked by both the 1060 6GB and the 1080. There are cards that IGPUs definitely killed, the display adapters with like 512mb of VRAM but those things are pretty much a product of a bygone era.
