Please consider that outside of America, SOME PEOPLE have witnessed shit like this IN REAL LIFE and you are re-traumatising them by forcing the video in their faces! You aren’t raising awareness to someone who has ALREADY WITNESSED STATE VIOLENCE IN PERSON. They KNOW, and they knew better than you did! What is happening in America is an atrocity, but do you think you’re the first people in the world to live through shit like this?? Where were you when it was happening elsewhere? How dare you demand this awareness from people you barely cared about until you wanted them to witness YOU?

I now know two people who have had full-on panic attacks because they have been forcibly reminded of horrific events from their past. What good do you think that did? These people are on your side even if you weren’t on theirs, and you just kicked their legs out from under them.

@Sylvhem @astronomerritt I'm pretty desensitized to violence but am too emotionally overwhelmed to volunteer to harm myself further by viewing what are basically, snuff vids of a public execution. My nervous system was already shaken prior to this most recent murder. Reading detailed reports was enough to understand the depravity & cruelness of ICENazis executing Alex Pretti. My PTSD won't be helped by watching the vids.

#CWs are appreciated a lot on people being murdered on vids.

look, just to clarify, I am willing to extend a lot of grace to folk who are extremely angry and maybe not thinking about CWs on their posts right now.

that grace VANISHES when it comes to deliberately not CWing images and videos of a murder. "people need to be forced to see this!" is naive, ignorant and cruel. people HAVE been forced to see it. often right in front of them. where were you then?

@astronomerritt Wholeheartedly agree. Reading "outside of America" was wrily "funny" though. America? Where every day someone takes it upon themselves to become judge, jury and executioner and they go on a murder spree while politicians wring their hands and claim they can't do a thing about it? I'm pretty sure that such videos are equally distressing to people who have lost loved ones in America's daily mass shootings.

@astronomerritt quite right. I heard what happened. I have seen verbal descriptions of what happened and what can be seen in the video. That is more than enough. I don't need to SEE what happened.

I remember, a long time ago now, people sharing the video of Daniel Pearl. I did not need to see that either and I remember it was hard work but I managed to avoid seeing that shit.

It shouldn't have to be hard work.
