@cwebber The discs are also sensitive as hell to smudges. A fingerprint can cause surprisingly poor playback.

@cwebber the first Blu-ray movie I ever watched was the 2009 film Avatar and then I assumed the case looked like that because of the style of that particular film

@cwebber And while In realize you were not inviting a rehash of an old debate I can’t help saying this every time I see the words Blu-Ray: a practical standpoint HD DVD was a better format which would have reduced prices for end users and kept physical formats alive longer. Sony leaned their lesson from BetaMax and knew they could win with a worse product if they just drastically outspent the other format (who was Toshiba). But also yes. The blue lining was dumb.

I have a box of latex gloves by the blue ray player that I wear just for handling them. Much prefer DVD releases.
