Yarn ~$100. Can't remember how much for the pattern. Hours? Untold. Bite me. Cold dead hands. Though actually they would be warm hands because this shawl is a beast.

@justmichelle The problem is, that people who say "you should sell that" actually mean well, they mean it as a compliment. They don't understand that it is an insult to the universe to imply that something only has value if it can make you money; that money is the only valid measure of worth.

I've had people offer $40 for an Anna Victoria shawl. (Heavily beaded, complex lace.) That doesn't even cover materials.

They are too used to things which are made in factories or sweatshops to even begin to fathom the value of handmade things. Not unless they are a maker themselves.

They don't think. PIcking the pattern. Deciding on the colors. Shopping for the yarn/fabric/whatever medium you use. Planning the design if multiple colors are involved. Layout. Execution. More execution. And more.

I quilt. A lady offered me $80 for a custom twin size piece. I laughed in her face. I spent more than that on the FABRIC. They're so used to cheap crap they can't think clearly.
