How I know that I need more coffee?

I just tried very hard to translate a text (coming directly from my brain) into English. Didn't work. Desperately entered it into a translation machine. It gives me a result, but in German!

Suddenly I realised that my text had come from my brain in English already.

Multilingual* life: I swear it costs more coffee!
*My mother tongue is German, but my everyday languages are French and Alsatian. English is my working language. Coffee!

@GustavinoBevilacqua Yes, we call it even a language because it has something about 240 different dialects. In our cultural heritage center you can learn it. Unfortunately, it's declining because of the centralistic politics of Paris but we have more school programs now.
Another problem: it was long considered ‘primitive,’ which is why many parents who actually spoke Alsatian no longer spoke it with their children.
In reality it's quite funny: we have dialects around the corner which are not of

@NatureMC @GustavinoBevilacqua The centralized policies of a government seeking to enforce "Art. 2 de la Constitution" (1992) definitely not helping here. The alleged defense of French culture and language against the ever developing inroads of English served the complete opposite interests of French regional languages, the irony of which can not have escaped those practising/living those languages. 😒

@StriderLongshanks It's much much more complicated and has nothing to do with a "defense against English".
It's also a question of history (Alsace changed nationalities different times) and independence movements (not always good ones, some are far-right).
Or stupid decisions without knowledge of the region (Hollande's "Grand Est").
