Souhaitez-moi bonne chance! 🤞🏻
@tess Bonnes chances! 🙌

It's very frustrating to have only English characters on my work keyboard layout; at home I'm used to having an international layout where I can type accents easily.
@tess Have you tried a CSA key map? A bit of hunting for keys at first, but I've had them work well on both Linux and Mac

@tess When I retire I want to make a website where you can pick any Unicode character easily, and define your own collections.
In my terminal I have alias ch='less ~/Dropbox/characters.txt', and the output starts with
U+00B1 ± PLUS-MINUS SIGN
U+00B2 ² SUPERSCRIPT TWO
U+00B3 ³ SUPERSCRIPT THREE
U+00B5 µ MICRO SIGN
U+00B7 · MIDDLE DOT
etc.
The one I use most is
U+2192 → RIGHTWARDS ARROW
(because I'm lucky to have a Mac and an Italian keyboard which is also fine for French) -

@tess US international layout is the answer. Apostrophes become dead accents

@tess What OS are you using at work?

@oblomov I hated that keyboard so much I created my own version that doesn't use dead keys

@tess was the issue the dead keys altogether or the fact that the primary function of the apostrophes was dead keys? IIRC there's a variant where '`"~ do their regular stuff but AltGr (right alt) + key does the dead accent.
