So, we don't like expensive games, right? $80 is a scam, right? So what about the Final Fantasy VII Remake which is like what.. 3 (?) full price payments for a single game. Is that okay or also a scam? -

The issue for me is my income does not match the price point. But that doesn't make a Ferrari, for example, a scam.
The scam part comes in quality of game, in my opinion. A 3 dollar game can be equally a scam, if it won't deliver a playable/fun experience.
The difference is that buying a Ferrari and finding no engine inside hurts a lot more.

@aeva I mean... I agree, but it's like 3 parts so... it's a $150-$180 (depending on platform) game.

@memoriesin8bit have you played it

@aeva I played the original. But I mainly struggle (I honestly do, this isn't bait) to understand "games are too expensive" discourse and why this game isn't part of it.

@memoriesin8bit @aeva If you need to play all three parts. Assassins creed does similar with their meta stories, but each section is also a full, stand alone gameplay with dozens of hours of entertainment, and the optional dlc extra quests for each make them about the same cost. With the quality of cutscenes and world design behind ff7 I honestly see no way how they could have priced it differently.

@memoriesin8bit ok so you know then that it's not a third of a game like you implied, the original is a full length RPG that stands well on its own. FF7R2 is also a full length RPG that stands well on its own and is effectively a sequel.

@darkgriffin @memoriesin8bit why did the LOTR movies each cost a full movie ticket price for a third of the book ?!?! scam city i tell you

@darkgriffin Ah so maybe I misunderstand how the game works then. I was under the impression that each different part of the Remake essentially covers a third of what was the original story. In which case I would have needed to play all three to get the full story.

@aeva @memoriesin8bit I know right? And the horror of book series! They have like 20 parts! Ahhh!
In all seriousness, I think this movement comes from the fact we are all actually kinda broke as gamers in a world with more games then ever before, and staring at new releases as a tax for "keeping up with friends playing the new things". A lot of social pressure outside is making it seem we are priced out. When in fact games even at 80 are way cheaper. But number got big looking, you know?
