It's kinda not good for playing games but comfortably enough to play Minecraft and stuff
For most modern 3D games it's gonna suffer though. It's a Vega 8 so much slower than the Steam deck, and it might not get to 50 FPS in something like CS:GO at 1080p@eniko@mastodon.gamedev.place what the fuck did two people just drop UserBenchmark, the one site that's notorious for manipulating data

hi fedi friends. search engines are shit now. can any of you dig up information on how relatively good or, much more likely, relatively terrible the integrated graphics in my amd ryzen 7 5700g is? especially when compared to like, actual at least vaguely modern dedicated graphics cards. i tried and could not turn up anything

@eniko I love using userbenchmark.com for that stuff; here's a link for your CPU. I'm not sure the integrated GPU aspects are benchmarked as part of the CPU bench, but hopefully it helps in some way

@eniko Tom’s Hardware have a review that compares it with some lower-end discrete GPUs down the bottom of this page: https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-ryzen-7-5700g-review/3 and you can potentially extrapolate from there?
If you don’t mind waiting a few hours I can do some background research properly, chuck together some tables and add up a bunch this stuff to give a wider range.

Vega 8 was "okay" for an iGPU like 7 years ago, so I think you can extrapolate. You can probably get a dedicated GPU out of a garbage bin and chances are it's gonna beat the iGPU -

I usually use https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu_list.php, finds ryzen 7 5700g, but don't really know if the site is ok, also heard about userbenchmark -

@eniko I use passmark to get a general ballpark idea, I used to use user benchmarks before I realised a lot of results didn’t line up with reality.
I have a 5600g and I used it for a while before getting a video card, and the answer is: performance bad. It was enough to play deep rock galactic at medium settings, anything that looks good runs kinda bad.

it *is* actually faster than my 2012 laptops gpu! by 50%

I read some references here and there to #Severance from Apple but I never cared much.
I've now watched both seasons, and it's not good, it's fantastic. The filming and acting is top notch, the dialogs are all good, there's no banality, the developments are thoughtful.
A bit too surreal and artsy at times for my taste, but overall 10/10.The season 2 finale is also a perfect ending imho, and absolutely does not need a season 3 (which will come next year anyway).
Watch it.
