Coming along great with VSCode and compiling (and more importantly) debugging c++. This all bodes well for the move to Linux once I get a new laptop. I found rcodesign for code signing Mac apps on Linux. No idea if it works yet but it would completely break by dependence on a Mac and still be able to build Mac versions.

@sephster None, I need to get a new laptop first. But probably Ubuntu to start because I used to it from my servers.
